The Guild of Our Lady of Ransom has a rich history of pilgrimage and Canon Peter Rollings, Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Annunciation and Holy Family Church in King's Lynn, is organising a procession.
The event is the Red Mount Procession in King’s Lynn which next year will be on Sunday 19th August at 3pm.
The Red Mount Procession was begun by the Guild in 1897 when the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham was restored by Rescript of Pope Leo XIII in the Holy House at King’s Lynn. For many years the Guild led the procession and often it was the Master who was the preacher. These days the procession carries Pope Leo’s statue of Our Lady of Walsingham from Our Lady’s Church to the Red Mount Chapel in The Walks where there are devotions before the procession returns to church for Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
The image is of the Pontifical Holy House in King's Lynn where the procession begins.
